AI-generated outputs are characterized by smooth gradients, slightly wrong hands, blurred faces, and organic-meets-geometric forms. Lean into these qualities rather than hiding them.

The Story

AI/Synthetic design emerged as a genuine aesthetic category in 2023, when AI-generated images became sophisticated enough to have a recognizable visual signature: smooth gradients that suggest depth without being photographic, slightly unsettling hand anatomy, texturing that feels organic but is clearly synthetic. Rather than fight these qualities, AI-forward products leaned into them. The result is an aesthetic that feels like peering into a different kind of intelligence: dark backgrounds with violet and cyan gradients, glass-morphic cards, blur effects that suggest processing in progress, and typography that is simultaneously technical and fluid. This aesthetic is young and still forming. Its most sophisticated practitioners are not using it decoratively — they are using it to communicate something real about what their product does.
